You got things correct!
BMW AG has only approved the fully synthetic BMW oils in: 0w30, 0w40, 5w30 and 5w40 and oils that carry a
BMW Long Life-1 or LL-1 (or
LL-4 for European low sulfur fuels) with an
ACEA A3/B3,
A3/B4 and
API SM (or higher, ie: SN, SO, ect) rating.
All that being said... for your climate the Castrol TWS 10w60 oil might be ok to run. I just would not run BMW long drain intervals (OCI = Oil Change Intervals) with any oil in that climate.
