I am in the same boat except my 128i is already out of warranty (53k miles/4 years). I just attended a BMW CCA event at a local indy BMW specialist where they put the car on the lift and inspected it. I was told I can expect:
- water pump failure - quite expensive to replace at around $1,000
- seal around the oil filter housing (it is actually showing a bit of seepage already) - quoted $360 to replace
- slight seepage around the output shaft seal in the transmission (MT) but not bad - was told not to worry
So, overall I am good to keep the car for a couple more years. After that I will get something newer.
