I would replaced both vanos solenoids and do a oil change. I cant count how many we have done at the shop in the past 2+ years. pretty common. If the faults return after both solenoids have been replaced per a BMW SIB you will then need to remove the valve cover and the cam to check if there's any signs bearing ledge wear ! I can personal say I have only seen that twice since this motor came out.
