Types of updates:

- Sat Nav maps require updates via dealership, or downloading from an internet source and then obtaining an activation code, neither methods are completely free.

- iDrive software update is free, just go to settings and update - download of the update is done via the vehicle's wireless data connection.

- BMW ConnectedDrive update is also free and is done by going to Connected Drive menu, selecting Service Status and then Update Services - download of the update is also done via the vehicle's wireless data connection.

There are also plenty of new BMW Online Apps available, like Hotmail, GMail, Wiki etc. All available via BMW Online within the ConnectedDrive menu.
