Suggest looking on ebay to find cheaper as BMW charges a crap load for them.
There is no DIY that i've seen however it's pretty straight forward.
1) Remove front Bumper
2) Remove headlights
3) bottom side of headlights you'll see the ballast kinda seated into the adaptive module (I think IIRC it's a T-20 torx bit to remove the module)
4) unplug ballast and module
5) Re-install new ballast and module
6) make sure any and every opening that opens on the headlights are sealed while the headlight is out and address if need be.
7) reinstall headlights and front bumper
8) You'll likely need to have to either code or have a coder reflash the car to recognize the adaptive module as well since it is a new one you will be buying (unless you find a used one)
9) Profit!
