I did some reasearch and came up with this story from the German newspaper.

The purple tint contained in the BMW car color Sparkling Graphite Metallic (SGM), was found to be emitting over 143ppb of Zethane into the atmosphere during the curing process. This was destroying the stratomeglus layer, exposing the German people to excessive levels of UVB rays.
