If you have more than 50k miles on the car, I would do this, and maybe even look at the shifter bushings to make sure they are not wearing out. 2000 rpm is pretty low for shifting unless it is a 135i, even my old Z3 coupe would stutter and bog at that rpm in higher gears. (It wanted to rev). Try changing the fluids and shifting at 3000 rpm on a regular basis to see if that helps at all.
