Obviously I am biased, but I do run one in my 135i daily driver, and I can tell you that there is zero loss of function of the vent... you can still open, close, aim, and it blows the same. The vent is so HUGE in the 1 series honestly I can't imagine how taking up 1 inch of height in the bottom of it would affect anything, and in practice, it doesn't seem to.
