OP you don't need to justify your decision to anyone.... people thought i was nuts when i got rid of my last car after one year and 11k miles. I saw it as an opportunity to recover some of my cost and walk away with equity to move on to something else and experience something new!
I just picked up my 2012 N55 135i M-Sport PPK two weeks ago and LOVE it. The DCT is incredible on this car and having had other turbo cars I can say this car SOUNDS like it has a BOV from the factory though its just a wastegate. It has a clean release type sound to the turbo pressure and you will not be disappointed. I would focus on other mods.
Based on the style I see from your Z which is incredible I recommend some Alefugen SF-71 19's in black with coilovers.... Kerscher front lip and a BMWP rear lip spoiler. I also recommend one of the quad exhaust set ups and carbon rear diffusers.
