I wonder if you stuck a thermometer in the vent (LOL don't let it drop all the way in, use something for a kitchen instead of for a sick kid), what kind of temp you'd actually read?
I've found that on mine, 84 doesn't really mean 84, what it really means is "oh screw it here's all the heat I can produce for you". BMW may as well have had temps reading all the way to 83 then just wrote "max" for the last one.
