Well this was much easier than I anticipated. When I picked up the car I just called Sirius and told them I wanted to take advantage of their "lifetime" membership option. They automatically deducted the "free year" from the total price. Could not have been easier.
The only challenge I did have was finding the SN (EIN?) of the radio. It showed on the radio just fine, but when I called Sirius, the car took over the call (I had already paired my phone) and the radio then showed the options for the in-process phone call--so I could no longer see the SN on the radio display. I finally had to hangup the call, write down the SN, then call them back.
But everything works great now!
