They don't salt the roads in my neck of the woods like they do in the East and midwest. They use sand, with just enough salt to keep the sand particles separated. The result is that you do not see rusted out cars here like you do in some other areas.
All that having been said, I avoid driving in significant snowfalls, as I have no confidence in the rest of the driving public and don't look forward to getting run into.
