Could have, perhaps - but they never did.
RS products in Europe are VERY expensive - again I am not sure who would pay $30-40k in the US for a FWD Ford hatchback.
And frankly I am not sure what I dislike more: the solid rear axle in the 300 HP Mustang, or the torque steer in a 300 HP FWD car.
