No catch with car insurance companies as long as they state everything clearly and you understand their Ts & Cs. It's a competitive market and each company has their own risk calculators which also adds to the difference in price. All insurance companies are against you or so to speak, they make it as difficult as possible to make a claim, which I'm sure you know. As long as you are clear about the policy, you should be fine. Also, no insurer can dictate the choice of bodyshop by law.

I was with Direct Line during the first year and Privilege for the second; despite both of them being part of the same group, the premium from Privilege was less than half that of Direct Line during renewal. Basically, it's their method of capturing market share by having different sub companies cater for different groups of drivers.
