I'm with you. Someone took out my whole bumper in a parking lot in Vegas a couple of years ago and I needed a new bumper, rear diffuser, and some bar that was in the bumper as well.
I was completely anal and OCD and at the time, in my mind, the car had lost value, nobody would want it, and I was terrified to see how it would look in the end. Mine was titanium silver and it looked flawless and wasn't an issue at all. So, ultimately, I was fine and I was put at ease, but I was a nervous wreck while they had it and were painting the new bumper.
As earlier posters said, some colors are easier than others. I think an alpine white or titanium silver should be pretty easy, whereas something like sparkling graphite or carbon black might be a little harder.
Also, that new bumper never showed up on my carfax either. Neither did the $26k in damage done in a later accident. So, I don't have any faith in a clean carfax.
