Retrofit Factory Alarm Option 302 (for non pre-wired cars)
Not as simple as the no-brainer pre-wired scenario, nevertheless seems doable and described in this BMW EBA (install manual) document:
Not sure if BMW NA will support the delivery of needed retrofit kit #65122167739. Other possibly needed parts are detailed in the document.The story ends the same way as pre-wired: coding by your friendly neighborhood coder or the dealer (check around before you spending effort on ordering the kit).
Have ordered it, and will confirm once installed.
