I think you are about to go where no one has gone before.
My guess is you are the first one to try this. I do know the e82 rear view mirror is shapped differently than the e87/e81 (hatch) cars.
You would think all the compass mirror would need is a 12v poer supply. But then again this is a BMW and coding might also be needed. I don't think you will know for sure until you try this "upgrade".
