When I was at the Geneva Autoshow, the Active E Concept display was comparing the car to the 118d, 120d and 120i. The Active E is slightly faster than the 118d and slightly slower than the other cars (by a second to a second and a half) The range was quoted as 100km... about 62 miles.
Realistically, with a 60 -100 mile range, all that matters is how fast you can get from 0 to about 40 mph and how a car goes around corners. The whole electric idea is neat, but BMW/MINI keep abandoning the DC area, which is ripe for commuter electric cars. Heck, maybe someone here would spearhead a movement for free parking in the city and waving the HOV requirements in return for driving a clean, efficient car (That still looks and handles like a BMW!)
I hope the car sells and ends up here in the DC area. I don't use a car for commuting, so it wouldn't do much for me personally, but if I did, I would certainly consider it.
