Replaced rear brakes and wear sensor alarmed after install

I replaced my front and rear brakes. On the rears I just installed new pads (cool carbons) and a wear sensor because I couldn't get the rotors off and when I measured them they were less than 1mm thinner than the new rotors I bought (and still have). When I reset the wear sensor it originally re-calibrated to like 95000km (on the fronts I installed new pads and rotors, reading was 110000km) then a week or two later I got a warning light that the rear brakes need to be replaced in 1500km (fronts still said 110000km)... So I tried to reset the sensor again and screwed up both the front and rear readings and now I always get the warning light.
Does the rear wear sensor somehow detector rotor thickness (seems unlikely)? Maybe just a connection issue (seems doubtful they stick in there pretty good)? Any other suggestions on what I should do?
Thanks.
