Well if the triangle is up then it's off but I would not see why having low brake pads would hemper you from losing traction. So when you do a 1-2 shift does the tires bark? And punching it from 3rd on the highway I would not expect you to lose traction unless you're pushing 600+rwhp.
Have you been able to lose traction doing a 1-2 shift in the past? Or breaking the tires loose in 1st?
