Seriously, in the past the 6331 figure surfaced. Now they report 6309 were "built" (not "sold"), so should include test mules (and the 740 for the US ).

LoL, not bursting my bubble at all. This 740 was what BMWNA M Manager, Matt Russell called 'official' and it seems to work out OK with the registry.

In the end BMW decides what is 'official' and what vehicles they want to include in the final production numbers. 739 vs. 740? I'm not going to obsess over it. I'm sure some cars were crushed, some Press cars were never sold, etc. so if BMW says 6309 then 6309 it is then!
