As for the other end I undid the twisty connector (similar to the DV connector) first and prised off the connector and put the twisty connector back with the new hose attached.
Good tips. I also recommend having a dremel tool handy if you plan to trim the end of the engine cover. It's very minor but it's best to do this so you don't risk pinching the line. Nobody will ever be able to tell it's been trimmed though, especially after the cowl is put back on.
