Hops, your 17x8.5 et40 rear protrudes 1mm LESS than my 18x9 et45 rear. I am running a Potenza S04 255/35 18, and with a mild roll AND slight shaving of the rear bumper tab inside the fender was able to ELIMINATE any rub. I had 255/35 18 Yoko SDrives as well, and their "squarer" shoulder profile still rubbed, albeit barely.

Based on this, I see no reason why with -1.5 to -1.8 of rear camber, and the roller fender/shaved tab you couldn't remove any/all rubbing.

*** BTW, the right rear fender clearance appears to be about 3-4mm tighter/smaller on our cars than the left rear. Do a on here and you will see how many others have ran into the SAME issue... where the right rear rubs while the left does not; SAME geometry side to side. ***
