It doesn't matter if it clicks in, hes probably gripping the shifter with white knuckles... Tip - DONT! Place your hand around the shifter, with the top in the middle of your palm, push with your palm and let your fingers rest along the side, push, and pull like this. DONT GRAB IT... You will see that this is a more proper shifting technique, and it wont pop out in your hands when it counts during a race...
