Hey OP, I really like that decal. I'm a big fan. It really works well with the CF highlight.

So I came here for a rant. Back in the day we used to have great fun picking on anyone who was silly enough to put a "M" badge on their non-M car. Not long ago I was lamenting to a friend about why the f*ck someone would badge up the back of their X5 xDrive30d with "M" badges so it looks like a X5M. For extra special points, they don't de-badge the car so if the exhaust doesn't give it away from the back, the xDrive30d badges on the side clearly indicate they've bought the base model X5 and wished the wife/wallet had let them get the M. They could, however, afford the $10 eBay badge on the back to warn other motorists that their diesel-powered barge might leap into action any second now.

Skip down the track a year and I'm sporting an entirely de-badged 135i with eBay "M" badges front and back and I've ordered aftermarket side markers with little "m" stickers on them too. I'm really quite conflicted about it, a big part of me says "take them of you f*cking poser" but I justify it by the fact that this 135i came stock standard with "m" badges on four wheels, the steering wheel the door sills and as marketed as a "135i m-sport". I'm not pretending to be a M3 (which is much bigger) or a 1M (which is a coupe). A E88 looks nothing like any "M" car BMW makes - it's really not hard to tell it's a 135i. So why do I have them there? I don't know. I can't rationalize it. Same reason why I want a carbon fiber hood with M3 power bulge. It just looks nice.

Today, I've got the car in for a service and they give me an entry-level 125i hatchback... which has more "m" badges on it than an m5. It's got blue "M" brakes, dedicated little silver "m" stickers on both sides etc. ... It's also got an engine with barely enough power to slip the back wheels around a tight bend with traction control turned off and an exhaust so quiet you can't hear you're bouncing it off the rev-limiter with all the windows open and the radio off.

So, on the issue of "m wannabe's" - WTF is it with BMW putting M badges on every base-model car without the mildest of tuning to match?!
