To anyone reading this thread, you can purchase the OBD port from BMW for under $7, and in less than a half hours time you can hide the port from plain sight and replace with the dummy one. A simple thing for a great deal of
peace and mind.....
So glad I did this... These stories and the thought of it happening to mine are not something I want to have to think too much about
