I'm setting up my 1200 mile service for this Saturday and I really appreciate all the informative comments made here on this thread. I confirmed with my local Monterey BMW that only engine oil/filter and diff fluids are to be changed. FYI, the MTF-LT-5 tranny fluid is still backordered and not due for release until Feb and that this fluid will be changed at the 3rd service, or at
approximately 30,000 miles.
I was a bit surprised that my next service won't be due until roughly 15,000 miles was what they told me. So all this "5 yrs/50,000 mile free service" is going to work out to be about 3-4 fluid changes. I'm not complaining, was just expecting a smaller interval between services.
