I was driving home from work last night and with 3' of snow on the ground and freezing drizzle in the air the rain-sensing wipers were useless. I was essentially manually turning the wipers on at the appropriate times. for my entire 1-hour+ ride home. In that case they were not only useless but outright dangerous. I would have given my left nut for plain old intermittent wipers.
