Looks like there is a good chance you need a software update. We had another member in the N52 engine section reporting the same problem and had it fixed via a DME update:

Actually I did an ECU remap in January. I got the car enhanced from 265hp to 280hp. But before that change I already had this fuel consumption issue
. I had tried Liqui Moly additives (different types), changing my way driving, changed the spark plugs to NGK iridium... I have a magnaflow catback and a K&N filter (not an intake, just the filter).... Oh well...
