hi there harold. though mine is unique in some rather important ways, lots of guys have an LSD on their 1er here in australia now. i can only speak for myself though when i say that it is easily the best modification i have on my car thus far. it absolutely and verifiably transformed my car - it tracks round corners better, gets off the line better, the rear feels alive and so controllable. and it does all this without making even a whisper of noise.
