Rattly Dash...... gone.

In case this is helpful to anyone, since I bought the car, it's sounded like a rattle was present somewhere in the dash. I've been a bit lazy to do anything about it since I thought I'd have to remove much of the dash to find it.

Well I made an effort to seek it out and it turned out to be the A Pillar trims which were making an indecent squeak every time I hit a bump. They were both noisy with the rubbing on the dash where they met.

I removed both A pillar trims and covered any plastic parts which touched the dash with a wax type lube and the car is wonderfully quiet now.

So in case anyone has a similar concern, it may be this which is causing the incessant creaking.

Hope it helps.

In case you want to try it, just briefly, the steps are as follows:

1 - use thin flat head drive to pry out Airbag badge on 'A' pillar

2 - unscrew Hex head under badge

3 - Slide trim along the same axis as the pillar toward the roof to unlock the hooks behind.

4 - Lube

5 - Put back in reverse order

6 - Eat cake

You're welcome.
