All of your numbers are accurate except for one thing: You will NOT pay state sales tax on the vehicle. State sales tax is charged when you register the vehicle to get your state tags (license plates as we call them here in Canada), and since you're Canadian, you're not registering it at the Vermont DMV are ya? Exactly.

This is no different than buying a car IN canada. You pay tax based on the province you live in, not the province you buy in. (I live in Alberta, purchased a new Acura in Saskatchewan, did not pay PST as I'm not a resident of Saskatchewan). Had I reversed this and lived in Sask but purchased in Alberta, I'd still pay PST even though I was buying in a province without PST.

The actual difference based on your numbers is about $6300 in savings.

Still not worth it, IMO... the hit on resale value on the back-end will easily be the amount someone would save.
