There should be like 3" of strut sticking out below the hub clamp. If the bottom of the strut looks flush with the bottom of the hub clamp it is incorrectly installed. Take a look at the pics in this thread, the clamp clamps on to the area above the initial lower, smaller diameter portion of the strut, the strut then sits deeper in the hub, which lowers the car.
The clamp needs to be pried open, it's a tight fit.
