Well. I think you need to think more to wheel and tire as a package. Inertia forces effects depend on the wheel and tire asy diameter and mass, if you use a 17in wheel and the recommended tire size you are almost back to corner 1

So, more than looking to The wheel size you need do decide tire sizes, then compare them.

My car came with 205/50/17 combo from the factory and switched to 225/40/18 and the mass staid within 1kg and the overall diameter only increased by 0.4mm but gained traction in all conditions. However, if i really wanted, I could of looked for a lighter wheel and still make an improvement while going to a larger wheel.

What tire size you have in mind?
