No, I don't rest my hand on the shifter. I guess the 6-> 3 or coming down from 5 ->3 in local traffic is probably too much for my tranny. I just like it in 3rd to pull away from traffic. Down to 2nd in local traffic is just a bit too much jump in rev for me. Not enough pull if 4th.
