This may be why they don't want to use the "M1" name, so that the original is not completely forgotten. That would be some odd reasoning though, seeing that they have reused the "328" badge.
I still can't believe some of you would completely pass on the car depending how it is named though. If the car performs to expectations, who cares? Are you worried that other people may not believe it is a true ///M car? If that's the case, then maybe M really does stand for marketing these days.
