Never had a key ring attached to any of my fobs. Three years ago I dropped one of my 1-series fobs getting ready for work in my house and never found it (I'm thinking it might have fell in garbage next to my desk? I saw it drop but was in a rush to leave). Dealer quoted me a total cost of $260 to replace (key, programming, etc). I've yet to replace it, but would prefer having a backup at home.
