Not sure about valvoline oil filter, but filter wise, anything other than OEM/Mann/Mahle/Wix filter is a no go.
That has been the case for any EU cars for me.
For the oil, I hear M1 isn't bad and a lot of people swear by it but somehow it is not approved for BMW LL01, or something like that..
Not sure what kind of deal you got but I would rather spend $45 bucks for 10 Qts of Castrol 0w-40 (Walmart), $10 bucks for Mann filter and 15 minutes of your time for DIY.
For $55, you basically have enough oil for 1.5 Oil change and well known filter that you can't go wrong with..
