Here is a telling quote from his BMW Lifetime maintenance schedule v03.13:"Oil analysis has shown the engine and driveline oils in new modern BMWs are literally full of metal at 1,200 miles..."
^^This is why had changed my engine oil FIVE times by the time my car hit 15K miles! I first changed the oil at 1,200 kms, then 2,400 kms, then 5K kms, then 10K kms and then again at 15K kms! (yes Kms, I think in metric since I am living in DE! )Some people think that's over kill. But I think its the only real way to get out all those metal bits inside the motor. And oil changes are far cheaper than re-building your engine!

Now I tend to change the engine oil every 6K kms.
