Thought I'd start a GoPro general thread for us to share tips and tricks. I just purchased my second GoPro. I sold my original HD Hero and bought a Hero 3.
I spent this morning drilling the case to accept the microphone adapter and went for a drive to try out an
Olympus ME52W microphone. The included cable was only long enough to clip the mic to the sunroof shade with the camera attached to the windshield. I attached the microphone cover and put a zip tie to hold it firmly in place. With the windows up the sound was good but windows down it sounded like a stock GoPro mic.
I've got a 12' extension cable on order, going to try a few different placements. I wanted to attach the mic to the rear bumper, but after hearing the sound with the windows down I'm not very hopeful of good results...
I'll do some more testing this weekend and post any good footage I get. I'll also detail any mounting setups that yield good results.
