For all us US owners. Do we have to pay for the 1200 mile service? Does it matter if I do this service at another dealer than where I purchased it from?

They always put a price figure as an estimate but there is no charge. Free maintenance for 4 years and I THINK 50k miles (not sure on mileage I never get to that point).
