I agree and plan to change mine every 5k in my garage. 15k isn't bad if you drive the car like my wife does. Oil and filter technology has improved dramatically in just the last 5 years, so it's not surprising BMW has the interval that they do. However, if your car is going to be seeing any track time or auto crossing a 5k interval is much better.
