Update:
The body shop has started on the car (as of Monday). I'm looking at an August 16th return date, which is 2 weeks away, but I want them to do the job right, which I know they will. They found about another $2K in damage after removing the bumper and everything else, but nothing structural. So that's good. All in: $8,500 in damage. I'll be happy to get the car back, as I'm tired of driving the Jetta, it's slow and not fun at all.
