I decided to try out the Cool Carbon pads when I switched to the BMW performance rotors. Given the great things I had heard about the Cool Carbon pads, I was actually rather disappointed. Although they do produce slightly less dust, they are still quite dusty. I also feel that they don't have the increased gripping power that I expected to feel.

I run Porterfield RS-4 pads on both my MINI and another BMW. They have tremendous bite (but have not been hard on my rotors) and hardly any dust at all. They will sometimes squeal at times, but that usually goes away. The Cool Carbon pads do that too. The RS-4 is a street/heavy duty pad and is not meant as a track pad, but works great for autocross.

Hope that helps!
