One of my favorites italian restaurants in carmel is Piatti's not cheap but not overpriced either. As for lodging if you want a decent priced room i'd aim more for Monterey than Carmel as your gonna pay more in Carmel.
Its too bad your not driving your one up the PCH i'm picking mine up next month in san louis obispo and doing the drive!
