Woah you have limits on what you can drive with a provisional license on that side of the equator? Over here you just can't drive certain hours with certain numbers of people in your car. It would be a great idea if the US did that.. a few months ago I saw a kid that couldn't have been more than 18 years old bringing in a dinan m5 for service at my dealership. and i thought i was too young for my car..
that said, 35K miles and 4 visits to the dealership for HPFP issues later, I would have been perfectly happy with a 128i if it had sports package, xenon lights (say what you will, but halogens on a 128i suck, it really makes it feel like the "bottom" bmw even though i'd take it over a 328 or 528) and manual.
I have step in my 135i because an old lease was running out, there were no manuals with anywhere near my specs on the east coast at the time, and i couldn't wait almost 4 months (counting august break where they don't make cars) for a car. If i took a 128i, there's no way I would have taken it without a stick. IMO a stick 128i is more fun than an auto 135i, but hey what can you do. Just do what makes you happy and what makes you have fun.
