SMG is a dead technology.... The DSG that audi designed is a much better solution and is cheaper to produce and more reliable; I think BMW is realizing this and has scrapped the SMG until they have their own Direct shift dual clutch setup, it is AMAZING!! From what I was recently told Masseratti is also dropping there F1 setup in favor of this and using the F1 as an option starting sometime next year. Borg Warner is currently producing Audi's setup, I am sure BMW will do it in house or possibly Aisan or getrag?
