Why didnt you just rent a sawzall?? Took me no more than 15-20 minutes to cut the old one off, and throw the PE on.
I do have a car lift at my office though so i just used that, didnt even have to take the diffuser off, but i still cannot imagine hacking that thing off with a hack saw. Not in this florida weather at least haha.
