I had the top of the range garmin nuvi until it got stolen out of the car. That's one reason I got the idrive because there is less chance of staling it.
The Garmin nuvi is a great easy to use unit. I might get a garmin Nuvi 250 just to use it for the speed camera alert. I can mount it where it can't be seen so that it won't get stolen again. These are about $229 at Dick Smith at the moment.
