When I was at the NY International Auto Show, I was speaking to the main sales manager of Alpina Motors, and we brought up the whole HPFP issue and he stated that the states have the worst gasoline ever, especially the central states. The coasts are decent though. He said that the refineries are out-dated and the gasoline sits for a long time after processing in silos, thus hindering quality. In europe he said he has not heard of the HPFP issue at all, hence the type of gas can certainly play a role in the dilemma in the states...just some useless info
